Exploring the obscure – my journey

About

This is a blog dedicated to sharing my research on the following topics:

  • fragrances and cosmetics across Europe and Asia, from Bronze age to late 16th century
  • the culture of the 5th century CE Northern Wei  (the Xianbei) and the early 7th century CE Kingdom of Italy (the Langobards)

In the SCA world I am known as Dúgū Jǐnán. I enjoy all kinds of activities, including costuming, archery and cooking.  My greatest passion is research on the obscure and not well known topics.

And, yes I love to look well and I overdress even for the kitchen duties. If you here jingles at an event, it is probably me walking around.

In the modern world I am a researcher who tackles the structure of proteins.
